JEFFREY DOUGAL, O.D.,F.A.A.O.

Dr. Dougal is one of the founders and is president of Orange County Eyecare Optometry, Inc. He is one of four staff optometrists providing primary eye care, diagnostic eye care for children, geriatric vision care services, laser vision correction management, and treatment of ocular disease, eye allergies and ocular infection. He has specialized in contact lens fitting for over 25 years, has been certified in laser vision management for 10 years and has a certificate in the treatment of computer vision syndrome. Dr. Dougal is California Board of Optometry certified in the Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management of Ocular Disease. His a Fellow in the Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate in the Cornea and Contact Lens Secton of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Dougal was an Assistant Professor in the Contact Lens Service at the Southern California College of Optometry and served as Director of Professional Affairs for a major contact lens manufacturer. Dr. Dougal has been a member of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Optometric Association, and the Contact Lens Society of America. He has served as a consultant to the California State Board of Optometry, and as Chairman of the Regional Committee on Admittance for the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Dougal has also served as a consultant to the California Child Health Disability Prevention Program and as an advisor to Operation SEE (Save Eyes for Education). For many years, he also served as Executive Director for Vision Consultants of Southern California, a vision screening organizaton for public and private schools. Dr. Dougal has lived in Orange County since 1955, graduating Anaheim High School and Fullerton College. He graduated with Honors receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry.



MICHAEL . SWEARINGEN, O.D.

Dr. Swearingen was born and raised in Southern California having graduated from Troy High School and California State University at Fullerton. He attended the Southern California College Of Optometry in Fullerton and graduated Cum Laude in 1973 with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Immediately upon graduation and successful completion of his State Board examinations, he entered the United States Air Force as a commissioned optometry officer and was stationed in Kansas City, Missouri, where he became Chief of the Optometry Clinic at Richards /Gebaur AFB. In 1976 Dr. Swearingen left the Air Force and returned to Southern California where he worked for private doctors, large medical groups, and as an Assistant Professor at the Southern Califrnia College of Optometry until 1978, when he opened his own private practice in Yorba Linda. Subsequently, in 1978 he merged his practice with Dr. Dougal's practice in Placentia to form Eyecare Optometry. He continues to practice part-time with Dr. John Shamus, an ophthalmic surgeon in Lynwood, performing ultrasonography on pre-op cataract patients as well as his full time duties at Eyecare Optometry. Dr. Swearingen is State Board certified in Therapeutic and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents. He presently resides in Fullerton with his wife and has three children and two step-children.



ROBERT THOMAS, O.D.

Dr. Robert Thomas has been a staff optometrist at Eyecare Optometry since 1989. He is State Board certified in Diagnostic and Therapuetic Pharmaceutical Agents for the management of ocular disease. Dr. Thomas has been an Orange County resident since 1958. He graduated from Cal State University at Fullerton with Honors in Biochemistry. He graduated the Southern California College of Optometry with Honors in Visual Science with a B.S. and Doctor of Optometry.
